The noose tightens

The beasts are in the arena
It’s Day 4 of the WSOP Europe Main Event here in Prague, and before diving into the action, let’s take a look at the forces still in play.
Only 85 players remain in contention for the coveted bracelet, and the €2,000,000 top prize. All will be back at noon for a battle that will last either six 90-minute levels or until the field is reduced to 24 players, the final three tables of the tournament.
For now, everyone is guaranteed €18,000, but payouts will climb quickly with each elimination.
Play resumes at blinds of 20,000–40,000 with a 40,000 ante, and an average stack of 1,800,000 chips, around 45 big blinds.
The French contingent returns in force, with 10 players still in the mix, the most represented nation. While none of them sit at the very top of the leaderboard, Safwane Bahri leads the way in 9th place at the restart. With such depth, there’s every reason to believe several could still be standing by the end of the day—especially experienced players like Sonny Franco, Benjamin Chalot, and Thomas Eychenne, who knows what it takes to win big events after his EPT Barcelona victory.
At the top of the leaderboard sits Lithuania’s Rokas Asipauskas, returning with 6,000,000 chips (150 BB).
Also still in contention are Joshua Arieh, chasing a seventh bracelet, Shiina Okamoto, one of the rising stars of women’s poker, and Annette Obrestad, the surprise guest of this festival, who will need a bit of luck with her 25 big blind stack.
The stage is set, let the cards speak.
